Dour: relentlessly severe, stern, or gloomy in manner or appearance.
Potent: having great power, influence, or effect.
Deceit: the action or practice of deceiving someone by concealing or misrepresenting the truth.
Petrified: so frightened and terrified that one is unable to move.
