Gnarled: knobbly, rough, and twisted, especially with age.

Clambering: from clamber: climb, move, or get in or out of something in an awkward and laborious way, typically using both hands and feet.

Gout: a drop or spot, especially of blood, smoke, or flame.

Dappled: marked with spots or rounded patches.

Lance: a long weapon for thrusting, having a wooden shaft and a pointed steel head, formerly used by a horseman in charging.

Aplomb: self-confidence or assurance, especially when in a demanding situation.

Malice: the intention or desire to do evil; ill will.

Anxiety: a feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease, typically about an imminent event or something with an uncertain outcome.

Assassin: a murderer of an important person in a surprise attack for political or religious reasons.

Skulked: keep out of sight, typically with a sinister or cowardly motive. Or could mean: move stealthily or furtively.

Forlorn: pitifully sad and abandoned or lonely.

Trickery: the practice of deception

Wily: skilled at gaining an advantage, especially deceitfully.

Infernal: relating to or characteristic of hell or the underworld.
